To Feel Good and Lose Weight, Stop Eating The Wrong Food Combinations

There is a very old saying that goes something like this: "You are what you eat." For the most part, this is true. Many people refuse to believe this and follow their lust for food into the dark abyss of poor health. It has been proven that with a healthy diet comes good health, no doubt about it. The tough thing to handle is that the foods that taste good to us, when combined improperly, cause us gastrointestinal problems that would otherwise not even surface. If one learns how to eat the right foods at the right time, almost all foods can be eaten by anyone. It's those various food combinations that cause the problem. Did you know that you can eat gas producing foods such as broccoli, cabbage and beans without the tremendous gas production? What about acid reflux? If you eat the right combinations of foods, you can do away with the misery of acid reflux, not to mention the pills. Wouldn't you like to be able to sleep at night without having to prop your bed up or use multiple pillows to elevate your upper torso? Just eat the right foods at the right time and you can do away with this problem. Let's explore this phenomenon further.

Have you ever stopped to consider how the different combinations of the foods we eat seems to work either for or against our digestion systems? Well, truth be known, if certain food combinations are avoided, much of our digestive system health could improve significantly. I've got a few tips for you. First of all you should never eat milk and meat together. Apparently, this started as some type of religious dictum eons ago, however, there is ancient wisdom at work here. You see, the fact is meats and milk cannot be digested together because this combination will cause indigestion, toxins and putrefaction of the food in the stomach. Many ancient religions also forbid eating fish with milk. Not a good idea but Western civilization doesn't always recognize this wisdom of the forefathers. Too bad as it could save the modern man a lot of intestinal grief.

There is scientific fact behind the idea that different food types are digested differently in our gastrointestinal (GI) systems. This occurs in various different places in the system and through the use of different chemicals and even at differing times. So you see that if we expect our digestive systems to be able to run efficiently and healthy, we've got to be conscious of what we are eating at all times. Different food types and food groups may require alkaline environments in order to digest. One such food group that fits this category is "starches." Other food groups, like proteins, must have an acidic environment in order to complete the digestive process. If both of these food groups are consumed in the same meal, the stomach has a great deal of difficulty digesting all the food. Unfortunately, the result is a sodden, slow and poorly performing chemical reaction that diminishes the digestion we need. When this occurs, the consumed food does nothing but putrify in the gut and releases toxins into the system. This undigested food simply begins to rot inside the stomach which causes the release of toxic gases, and in time, serious digestive disorders appear. These poor digestion problems and the resulting GI problems often are unable to be traced as the root cause once the serious problems take hold. Once the toxins begin to build up and the body becomes affected, such things as constipation, nervous disorders and a slowdown of the general metabolism are bound to occur in time.

Recent studies show that the average Western male is usually carrying approximately 5 pounds of undigested, putrifying red meat in their digestive system. What do you think it would be like to live in a house in which you kept 5 pounds of rotting red meat in a dark corner of your kitchen every day of the year. Unfortunately, the image is not pleasant, but that's what the "average" Western male is toting around inside of himself constantly.

In order to prevent these types of situations there are certain guidelines that should be followed when one prepares meals.

1. First of all, proteins such as beans, seeds, nuts, peanuts, peas, lentils, cheese, milk and eggs should never be eaten in the same meal with carbohydrates such as potatoes, corn, squash, lima beans, yams, pumpkins, grains, carrots, beets or coconuts. Each meal should include ONLY one kind of protein. The acids in the stomach will be excited by protein based foods while the starch or carbo- foods will start the alkalines flowing. When this occurs, the two types of food will neutralize the entire digestive process, starting in the stomach. This causes a watery digestive solution and neither the proteins nor the carbohydrates get digested. Although we feel satisfied, with a full stomach, the food begins to rot inside.

2. You should always avoid eating starch and acids such as juice or fruits in the same meal. An example would be white bread and citrus juices which cannot be digested together. Sugars and fats should never be combined in any one meal. In other words, cereals, bread, potatoes or other such foods should never be eaten in the same meal with berries, oranges, grapefruit, pineapple, or other acid foods.

Does this sound familiar? Are you eating these combinations? Have you been eating them all your life? How's your health today compared to earlier in your life?

3. What do we usually eat at the end of a nice meal? Dessert, right? BAD idea! Why? Because the sweet, sugary desserts we love so much are improperly digested after you've eaten all of these proteins and carbohydrates. When the sugars of these desserts get added to the rest of the mix in your stomach, they are not digested. Instead, they simply begin to putrify and the result is fermented alcohol, acetic acids and vinegar. Yep, vinegar produced by your eating habits.

4. If you enjoy fruits, that's good but do not mix certain types of acid fruits. We're talking about such things as oranges, pomegranates, strawberries, grapefruits, pineapples, lemons, limes, tangerines and kiwi fruits being mixed with sweet fruits like bananas, dates, raisins, papayas, figs, persimmons grapes, and other dried fruits. They are unable to digest well when combined.

5. One should never eat melons with any other fruits or foods. Digestion will not take place with anything else.

6. We've talked about bad food combinations. Let's look at some good combinations: include in this group proteins with low starch or green veggies such as meats and leafy vegetables or low starch vegetables. Starchy veggies such as rich and spinach can be digested well with green leafy vegetables.

7. Tomatoes may be placed in combination with low starch vegetables and oily proteins such as nuts. A separate meal should be made of all fruits.

8. We've already mentioned milk and meat, which is a no-no, however, it is a good combination with fruits, except for citrus fruits. The typical Western breakfast with meals that contain items like toast, eggs, bacon and milk are one of the most toxic food combinations that can be eaten. Also, the old traditional steak and potato combination is also a complete no-no and can cause substantially more damage than any other combination.

Food that is rotting in your digestive system is the reason for many different problems. Usual problems that you may see include such maladies as gas, heartburn, acid reflux, GERD,cramps, constipation, stomach or gut bloating, foul smelling stools, colitis, diverticulitis, bleeding ulcers and various other digestive problem disorders. All those medications that you see advertised on TV will only provide a temporary relief and, though unfortunate, until your digestive system is cleared out of all the garbage that you have accumulated inside, there will be NO cure. Your blood will continue to absorb the toxins produced by putrefaction. The blood will then pass it on to the other organs and systems and the result will be allergies, hives, headaches, nausea and a whole lot more.

It is not only the food combinations that cause problems. There are some basic cooking methods that also cause much harm. One thing all should know is that you should never cook honey in any way. It causes a chemical reaction that is not pleasant. We all like our milk cold when we drink it, right? Well, it has been shown that cold milk may cause stomach problems, so milk should almost always be drunk warm. Served as such, it speeds up digestion.

There are several programs available that teach the correct methods of food combination and preparation. While some aspects of these skills are available in various online locations, the search for such programs often reveals the low level of knowledge about this subject.

If you have a desire to learn how to combine foods correctly, in order to heal such afflictions as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Colitis, Diverticulitis, Diarrhea, Constipation, Acid Reflux Disease and Intestinal parasites in as little as one day, you might care to look at the Great Taste No Pain website. There have been a great deal of trial-and-error studies performed over a long period of time, in order to learn the information provided here.

The Concept

This concept is not new. It has been around for years but so few people have actually heard of it. Why? Well, for one reason or another, food combining has not been promoted effectively and for another, many people are quite stubborn and don't believe that this method works. It does. It works unbelievably well. So well in fact, that more and more proponents of the method are writing books and research papers on food combining every day.

Other proclaimed fast weight reduction diets don't even come close to their claims. Then there are those that are highly effective if you can stand to stay on them for any amount of time. No matter which diet you use, believe in or want to try, we've found that one thing always seems to make the initial phase of any diet work much more effectively.

What is Food Combining?

What do we mean when we talk about the theory of "food combining?" Does this mean that you can only eat certain foods? No, it does not. Food combining is a reference to a method of eating that simply combines foods that are compatible in the digestive system. Did you think that all foods were compatible after you swallowed them? Most people are of this belief and that is why over 2 BILLION dollars are spent every year on digestive system relief. Antacids and the new acid reducing medications are the mainstay of many people's diets these days. Everyone is looking for a pill to cure them from their digestive woes. You can be certain that the pharmaceutical companies don't want you to know about the simplicity of food combining.

Digestion Medications

The problem with this is that these medications are not "curing" the problem. They are simply masking it. The problem continues to exist but the medications work to reduce the symptoms. If you stop taking the medicine, the symptoms all come back.

Something else to consider is that by continuing to mask the symptoms, the problem continues to the point that it causes other diseases to occur.

You see every single system in our bodies, though each has a different objective and purpose, is tied to all the other systems. For example:

When you eat certain foods, your digestive system breaks them down into absorbable fluids where they are absorbed into the blood stream. Now, they are in the circulatory system. The different nutrients and toxins are then transported, through the circulatory system, to other parts of the body for processing. The liver attempts to filter out the toxins and thus, is affected by those very toxins it's trying to filter out. Once through the liver, the remaining nutrients are again taken through the circulatory system and any toxins that were unfiltered by the liver begin to effect that walls of the blood vessels. You've all heard of "plaque?" These are the deposits in the arteries that cause build up and clog the arteries so that blood has a difficult time passing through. This results in stroke or heart attack.

Back to the liver. When toxins and other unusable products are filtered out by the liver, the liver sends these products to be eliminated by the kidneys (the excretory system). The kidneys are then affected because they have to filter the products again and remove certain chemicals and place the water back in or out of the system, depending on the body's needs.

Without going into each of the various systems of the body, let us suffice to simply say that each of the different systems is affected by the products that enter it. This is a fact and one of the causes of aging and simple human systems breakdown.

While the body is a miracle and it tries very hard to utilize everything that humans pass through it, the fact remains that we often abuse our bodies without even knowing it. And it all starts in the digestive system.

When you have stomach pain, your stomach is trying to tell you that it did not like what you put into it. Makes sense, right? Our organs don't malfunction unless we either have a congenital effect or unless we abuse them. Eating inappropriate food combinations is, in essence, abusing our digestive system.

When the right combinations of food are placed into the stomach, the digestive process is simplified and the digestion system can work very efficiently and provide the body with nutrients so that it can function the way it was meant to. Appropriate food combining will accomplish this process. When the digestive system is working appropriately, most other symptoms will disappear and often diseases and afflictions will cease to exist.

How Does It Work?

Here's how food combining works. The theory of food combining is based on the fact that specific food groups, such as carbohydrates, proteins and fats, each require different digestion times and digestive enzymes, in order to be broken down and utilized by the body efficiently.

One should only consume foods that have approximately the same digestion times and use the same or similar digestive agents to break them down.

This has to do with the chemistry of the digestive system, specifically acids and alkalines. Each is the opposite of the other. Some foods require more or less of each. If one eats a combination of foods that require both acid and alkaline to break the food down, each of these components causes the other to be neutralized and completely ineffective.

You see protein foods (meats) need a very acidic environment in order that they can be digested appropriately. Carbohydrates (starches and sugars), on the other hand, require a much more alkaline medium to digest, as do fats. If you eat a meal that consists of meats, vegetables and desserts, you have, in effect, neutralized your digestive system. In doing so, you have slowed the digestive process down to almost a complete stop and the digestive process is compromised.

When the digestive system slows down this much, the food begins to putrefy or rot. The putrefication process is caused by the growth of bacteria. Bacteria, because they are living, breathing creatures, release wastes and gas. The longer the food sits in the stomach, rotting, the more gas and toxins the bacteria releases. These very gasses and toxins are eventually passed into the small intestines and absorbed into the digestive system, thus, digestive system breakdown and problems start to occur. Over time, this builds up and you start to see conditions such as diverticulitis, IBS, acid reflux, bloating, constipation, etc.

The Principles of Food Combining

The following principles of food combining can easily be put to the task in order that the cynical person can test this theory. If one does decide to test this theory, they will undoubtedly find that it works exceptionally well and is highly effective:

1. Starches and acids should be eaten at separate meals because the acids tend to neutralize the alkaline that is necessary to digest starches (carbohydrates).

2. Only one specific type of protein should be consumed at each meal.

3. Proteins and acids should be eaten during separate meals because the acids found in acid foods will inhibit the release of digestive acids that are necessary to break down the proteins. If the proteins are not broken down and digested, they will putrefy and cause bacterial growth which leads to gas and toxin release.

4. You should consume carbohydrates and proteins at two separate meals because proteins require acid and carbohydrates require alkaline to break down for digestion.

5. Fats and proteins should be eaten at separate meals. Foods high in fat, such as certain nuts, require a lengthy period for digestion to occur.

6. Fruits and other carbohydrates should be consumed at a completely separate meal from proteins (meats).

7. Melons of any kind, should be eaten completely separate from other foods because melons do not mix appropriately with any food groups.

8. Proteins and sugars (desserts) should not be eaten at the same meal. Do not follow up a meal with a dessert. Either eat the dessert two hours before or two hours after the protein meal. If you eat them right after the meal they will simply sit on the stomach and break down into alcohols and vinegars.

9. Do not eat fruits and starchy foods during the same meal because fruits are not broken down in the stomach and they interfere with the alkaline environment that is needed for the breakdown of starches.

Do NOT mix starches with protein in the same meal. The term "meat and potatoes kind of guy." is not about a healthy person. This person will have lots of digestive problems in the future (if they don't already have them) and will also be having other serious health problems.

11. Chew your food until it's almost a liquid. It has been proven, without a doubt, that certian foods will not digest at all if they are not chewed up very well before swallowing. Get in the habit of chewing your food very well.

You should at least TRY food combining, especially if you have any type of digestive problem at all. It is a controversial subject but one thing is certain. Almost every person who tries this for at least a month, finds that they are feeling unbelievably better and have more energy and health.

The most comprehensible and authoratative source for food combining for improving health is Sherri Brescia's "Great Taste, No Pain" series. Ms. Brescia is a medical researcher who has compiled a tremendous amount of information into a food combining system that anyone can follow. Many people have tried this system and the results pretty much speak for themselves.
